Blog recipe: Festive no-bake cranberry & sweet potato dog treats
WELCOME TO THE SEASON OF GIVING (AND TREATS)!!
With the holidays in full swing, why not spoil your pup with these simple, no-bake treats? Packed with the goodness of cranberries, sweet potatoes, and (gluten free) oats, this festive recipe is not only quick and easy but also full of nutrients to keep tails wagging all Christmas long. Best of all, it’s a plant-powered recipe that’s kind to both your dog and the planet!
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup cranberries (dried and unsweetened) – we used a few fresh cranberries and some bits of apple as we had them!
- 1/2 cup sweet potato puree (cooked and mashed)
- 1 1/4 cups rolled oats (blended into oat flour) – we used gluten free oats for our allergy pups
- 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional, for added omega-3s)
- 1 tbsp unsweetened peanut butter
INSTRUCTIONS
- Blend & Combine: Blend the oats into a fine flour and mix with the cranberries, sweet potato puree, chia seeds, and peanut butter in a large bowl. Stir until well combined.
- Shape the Treats: Roll the mixture into small balls or press into festive cookie cutter shapes for added fun.
- Chill: Place the treats in the refrigerator for at least an hour to firm up.
- Serve & Celebrate: Once chilled, they’re ready to serve! Store the treats in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
WHY THESE INGREDIENTS?
- Cranberries are bursting with antioxidants to support immune and urinary health.
- Sweet Potatoes are rich in fibre and vitamins for gut health and sustained energy.
- Oats are gentle on sensitive stomachs and provide slow-releasing carbohydrates to keep your pup fuelled for winter walks.
This wholesome, no-bake recipe is a festive way to share the spirit of Christmas with your furry family member—no oven required! The Herbie Wilde pack LOVED them!
